Is P90X worth it, should i buy it?

So basically, i am about 260 and i need to get down to about 200. there is one gym but it is a membership gym and i am short on cash, it is important that i be 200 (the less the better) by november (i am planning on joining the navy). A friend of mine said that p90X helped his uncle lose like 100 pounds in 6 months, is this true? Is it worth it? how much can i lose with p90X and a good diet by november?

px90 is pretty good, Difficult but good. might be good for you to test your self discipline. However there's no special exercises to it like the infomercial implies. it's mainly sit-ups, push-ups and pull-ups.

Its the fact that its geared to burn a certain amount of calories v.s. the calorie intake designed by the diet. The diet is every bit as important as the exercises. People have complained that they only did the exercises while ignoring the diet and didn't see very much in the way of results.



But overall it's a great fitness system if you follow the instructions to the letter. It requires a lot of time. it's not just an hour a day and you're done. You have to make time for preparing your meals, and also make time to eat often. When you are first starting out, the exercises take closer to 2 hours a day because it takes a bit to get acquainted with proper form & writing down your progress and such, which requires pausing the DVD a lot.



Pros: The system makes a B-line toward your fitness goals. (if you followed this program exactly every day until November you would be in "superhero" condition.)



Cons: It requires a lot of time, with all the cooking, eating and exercising, it feels like having a 2nd job. You mentioned not having a lot to spend, which is the other side of it. Eating healthy costs money, and if you don't have dumbbell type weights at home, you'll need to buy some. (AND a pull-up bar.)

P.S. If you do it.. make sure you get the after-workout drink powder (it's truly amazing..everyone LOVES it.)
