European Hostels, I need help planning my trip to europe?

I need help from a more experienced person about how to stay in europe as cheaply as possible.

I'm going to be traveling in a group of 5 I would like to know any tips for staying as cheaply as possible per night. Preferably around 10 dollars a night.

The countries I'll be visiting are amsterdam, germany, italy, spain, and france.

With a group of 5, cheap hotels are probably going to be as cheap or cheaper than hostels, and you will get a lot more privacy that way.

Hostels usually have big rooms with anywhere from 4-10 people on bunk beds. Hostels usually charge per person, while with a hotel room they will usually allow 3 people in a double room and will put in a cot for free or for a small fee. (Assuming you don't have two couples in the group of 5 and need 3 separate rooms.)

You can't do $10 per person per night in most places. Hostels in Western Europe are usually $15-30 US per person per night. Cheap hotels begin at around $25-30 US per room in a cheap place like Marseilles or Seville, but in places like Paris or Amsterdam, expect to pay more like $50-60 US per room in the cheapest hotels. BTW, these are usually very basic hotels with no frills - sometimes they are okay and have private bathrooms, air conditioning, etc., but sometimes the bathroom can be down the hall, they may not have air conditioning or an elevator, they can be in out of the way or run-down areas, etc.
