I overstayed my passport in germany?

I overstayed by 13 days. I didn't know it was a 90 day thing for the WHOLE Schengen area. So my two weeks in Italy didn't cover this as I had thought. I was only here to visit my military husband (U.S. Army) before he is deployed to Afghanistan. Will I be banned?

Answer on I overstayed my passport in germany?

Try to contact the German authorities before you leave and sort things out it is worse if they discover you overstay when you leave and try to say nothing.

You will probably get a fine I don't think for a minor offense you will get banned but nobody except the German authorities can give you exact information.

Contact the local Auslanderbehorde of your city as soon as you can and explain them you overstay by error since you mistakenly went to Italy instead of the UK which is not a Schengen country. and hope that you find some people who want to understand your problem.

Good luck

EDIT

In Germany there are no consulates of Germany the authorities which are in charge is the local Auslanderamt and nothing else !!

EDIT II

When she arrived in Germany she was not yet a dependent of a US military and for exactly that reason she is NOT exempt of the usual visa regulations.

It also is not possible to change that status by marrying since she must be exempt upon her arrival in Germany.

She would have to go to the US and come back.

But once she is on the black list which will happen if she does not contact the Auslanderamt Germany can ban her from entering the country even if she is married by then.
