Pretend I had the power to perform miracles.
I say to you:
"I am going to make you a deal. I am going to have a bunch of people torture the hell out of you.
Then, I am going let them kill you.
If you do this for me, here is what I will do for you.
First, I will guarantee that every person on Earth, throughout eternity, will have a peaceful, everlasting life after they die.
Second, don't worry about that death thing. I will bring you back to life after a few days.
But wait, there's more!
How about, I let you live in my house forever, and you can have all my powers?"
Does that sound like much of a sacrifice to you?

Yeah, I think this, too. If he knew he was God, it really wouldn't have been such a big deal. I really like the telling of the story in The Last Temptation because it made it much more of a choice/sacrifice. Imo, that story is very very Christian because if a man did feel that he was also god, he'd have some serious issues, right? This is not a popular view.
