UK: Have you been getting your post delivered?

I live in the area served by the Morpeth delivery office in Northumberland and we haven't had any post since THURSDAY 25th NOVEMBER, because no delivery vans have been permitted to leave the depot. I was wondering whether anyone else is having this problem and how long it's been since you had post delivered, or which day was it when your service resumed? No-one is answering the phone anymore at our depot, so we can't find out when this siege will be over. Also; does anyone know whether the Post Office are legally obliged to deliver the mail and if we could get any compensation for this, especially as I've been waiting for a Recorded Delivery to be re-delivered since this began? Thanks. I can understand a delay of 2-3 days, but we are now almost a fortnight without deliveries and that's insane!

FYI... if you ask their Twitter update or customer services you get their corporate answer, which is that they'll deliver when it's safe for their 'people' to do so - though Parcelforce don't seem to be having a problem! What I want to know is HOW SAFE does it need to get before they'll begin deliveries?? Can't get an answer for that!

I live in Amble and have had no post for 11 days now, no bins have been emptied for almost a fortnight either and no word on when we can expect them to be em[tied.
