Is San Remo (Italy) music festival as popular as it was in 70-80th?

If so, how long do the new stars shine? Guess not as long as those discovered in 1970-1980. Back then, most people in the USSR worshiped them (Beatles too but due to Iron Curtain, Italian music was more accessible for some reason then any other Western music) Even now, Toto Cutugno, Adriano Chelentano, Al Bano, Pupo are stars # 1, they still go to Russia and perform, they were here in the USA (well some of them) in Atlantic City, NJ. I don't know if they were singing live. I just saw some videos. Boy they are aged. And it make me realize I did too. Anyway, look on Eurovision of the last years. The new runner ups do not make it until next year. They are one time shot now. Is it lyrics?
